The Pull Through Time
Clyde was sitting in the portal tunnel, bouncing slightly, when Lumen’s voice whispered inside his mind:
“Clyde… there is something you must see.”
Clyde blinked. “Is it snacks?”
“No.”
“Is it a rubber trampoline?”
“No.”
“Is it Nightwing doing something dramatic?”
A pause.
“…Yes.”
Clyde gasped. “SHOW ME.”
The world around him dissolved — colors stretching, bending, swirling — until Clyde floated weightlessly in a tunnel of shimmering time.
Meep wasn’t there. Mae wasn’t there. Matthew wasn’t there. Zyde wasn’t there. Benjamin wasn’t there.
Only Clyde.
And Lumen.
The Vision Begins
The colors parted.
Clyde found himself standing in a moonlit clearing — but he wasn’t really there. He was watching, unseen, untouched.
Nightwing stood in the center of the clearing, feathers glowing faintly silver. He looked younger, less dramatic, but still unmistakably Nightwing.
Shadowbeak stood across from him, regal and calm.
The air shimmered.
A third figure appeared — a tall, glowing chicken silhouette made of pure light.
Clyde whispered, “Who’s that?”
Lumen answered:
“The Oracle of Feathers.”
Clyde whispered, “That’s the coolest name ever.”
Nightwing’s Prophecy
The Oracle spoke in a voice that echoed through the clearing:
“Nightwing. You will walk two paths.”
Nightwing bowed deeply.
“One path of pride… and one of redemption.”
Shadowbeak clucked softly — the respectful cluck.
The Oracle continued:
“When the worlds collide, you will be the first to cross.”
Clyde gasped. “THAT’S WHAT JUST HAPPENED!”
Lumen whispered:
“Yes.”
The Oracle’s voice grew louder:
“You will guide the flock through the realm beyond. You will face the shadow of your past. And you will choose who you truly are.”
Nightwing lowered his head.
Shadowbeak stepped forward and clucked once — the “I believe in you” cluck.
The Oracle faded.
The clearing dissolved.
Clyde Returns
Clyde blinked.
He was back in the tunnel.
Mae barked. Meep meeped. Matthew scribbled. Zyde scanned Clyde. Benjamin sighed. Seth typed.
Clyde shouted, “I SAW NIGHTWING’S PROPHECY!”
Everyone froze.
Benjamin rubbed his forehead. “Oh no.”
Matthew gasped. “STEP THIRTY: PROPHECY REVELATION!”
Zyde yelled, “IMPOSSIBLE! TIME TRAVEL ISN’T—”
Meep meeped.
Mae tilted her head.
Seth said, “Write it down before you forget.”
Clyde bounced excitedly. “Nightwing is destined to lead us through the portal world!”
Benjamin groaned. “Clyde… you were probably dreaming.”
Clyde shook his head. “No. Lumen showed me. It was real.”
Lumen whispered:
“It was.”
Clyde smiled.
Benjamin did not.
No One Believes Him
Matthew believed him halfway. Zyde believed him scientifically but refused to admit it. Meep believed him completely. Mae trusted him. Seth believed him because it made his book better. Benjamin believed nothing.
But Clyde didn’t care.
Because Lumen believed him.
And Nightwing’s prophecy was real.
The Adventure Continues
Clyde whispered, “Lumen… what happens next?”
Lumen answered:
“Nightwing’s destiny begins in the portal world. And you must follow him.”
Clyde bounced. “I LOVE DESTINY!”
Benjamin groaned. “I hate destiny.”
Matthew wrote STEP THIRTY‑ONE: FOLLOW NIGHTWING.
Zyde prepared his scanner.
Meep meeped bravely.
Mae barked once — the “let’s go” bark.
And the next chapter of the Clyde Chronicles began.
