The Clyde Chronicles crew is finally going on vacation. Not a mission. Not a snack‑heist. Not a “Clyde found something weird in the basement.” A real vacation.
Naturally, everything goes wrong immediately.
Part One: Packing for Disaster
Vacation day began at 8:00 AM. By 8:03 AM, Benjamin already needed a break.
Packing Begins (And Immediately Fails)
Benjamin tried to start a normal packing routine. He laid out suitcases. He made a list. He took a deep breath.
Then Clyde sprinted past him wearing swim goggles, yelling, “VACATIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!”
Matthew followed him, carrying a beach ball and shouting, “I HAVE AN IDEA!”
Benjamin closed his eyes. He knew this was the beginning of something terrible.
Zyde’s Contribution: Science, But Worse
Zyde arrived with a device he called the Pack‑O‑Matic 5000, which he claimed would “optimize luggage density.”
It did not.
It sucked in:
- A towel
- Clyde
- Meep
- Mae’s leash
- Matthew’s left shoe
It then burped out a cloud of glitter.
Clyde emerged from the machine sparkling like a disco ball and declared himself “Vacation King.”
Meep floated out behind him, glowing AND glittering, which Benjamin described as “a safety hazard and also adorable.”
Mae Tries to Help
Mae attempted to bring order by dragging Clyde’s actual suitcase to him. Clyde thanked her by packing:
- A loaf of bread
- A pool noodle
- A rock he named “Vacation Rock”
- A single sock
- A photo of Mae
Benjamin removed the rock. Matthew tried to put it back. Zyde scanned it with a device. Meep meeped at it. Mae sighed.
The rock stayed.
Matthew’s Big Idea
Matthew announced he had invented a “Vacation Strategy Plan.”
Benjamin asked what that meant.
Matthew proudly held up a notebook with one page that said:
STEP 1: GO FAST
STEP 2: HAVE FUN
STEP 3: SNACKS
Clyde applauded. Zyde took notes. Meep meeped in approval. Mae wagged her tail. Benjamin aged five years.
Loading the Car
This was the worst part.
Clyde tried to sit in the driver’s seat. Matthew tried to sit in the driver’s seat. Meep floated into the driver’s seat. Zyde attempted to install a “scientific upgrade” to the dashboard. Mae barked at all of them. Benjamin physically moved everyone into the correct seats.
Then Clyde pressed every button he could reach.
The windshield wipers activated. The hazard lights flashed. The horn honked repeatedly. The trunk opened. Zyde’s equipment fell out. Meep meeped in terror. Matthew yelled “THIS IS PART OF THE PLAN!” Benjamin yelled “NO IT IS NOT!”
Mae climbed into Clyde’s lap to stop him from pressing more buttons.
It worked. Mostly.
Departure
After 47 minutes of chaos, glitter, meeping, barking, and Benjamin’s slow descent into madness, the Clyde Chronicles crew finally pulled out of the driveway.
Clyde shouted, “VACATIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!”
Matthew shouted, “STEP ONE: GO FAST!”
Zyde shouted, “I BROUGHT EXPERIMENTS!”
Meep glowed brighter.
Mae braced herself.
Benjamin whispered, “I should’ve stayed home.”
